Life-wide learning, Happy Campus, Full of fun!
Have you ever imagined a school that would arrange whole-school activities on every Friday? Here it is, TWHGs Tsui Tsin Tong School! From 2014/15 school year, the school organises “Life-wide Learning Day” on every Friday, activities vary from “Whole School Photography Learning” to “Outdoor Life-Skill Learning” to “Science and Technology Learning” and brings students to different places to broaden their horizons at least once a month.
On the Life-wide Learning Day, teachers and students walk out of the classroom and learn in the community. In the past few years, students have visited Cheung Chau, Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens, Kowloon Park, Avenue of Stars, Stanley, and many other places. Students are instructed to do project-based learning on topics being taught in the classroom. Students do not only broaden their horizon, but also practise what they have learnt in real-life situation.
Life-wide Learning Day emphasizes “Learning for Fun” and “Be Trendy”. The 2021/22 school year marks a new milestone for the whole-school photographic learning scheme "Let's See My World", in addition to the old camera photographic skills, the school has introduced AR shooting by using iPads. Students use virtual reality shooting to extend their creativities. After taking pictures, students learn to write narratives, to link up sentence to create stories, and to learn to use Photo Apps to edit photos as well. At the same time, they can express their inner thoughts to others. Through “Life-wide Learning Day”, the school wishes to integrate learning into daily life and to encourage real-life practice of what students have learnt.
STEM Learning Day is the learning of creative thinking and problem-solving by engaging students into scientific experiments and technological exploration. For example, in the "STEAM-Tie-Dyeing Fun" activity, students conduct experiment to test the characteristics of various materials, to learn symmetry while drawing dyeing patterns and to explore color mixing using tie-dyeing effect. Life-Wide is not only in Learning, but also let students enjoy the process and attain a sense of accomplishment in all aspects.
