Teaming Up for Integrated Education – Video Series
The Education Bureau (EDB) has produced a new video series titled "Teaming up for Integrated Education", featuring valuable insights from teachers, school staff and parents. Comprising four chapters, the series demonstrates how ordinary primary and secondary schools implement the Whole School Approach (WSA) to integrated education (IE) based on the underlying principles of early identification, early intervention, WSA, home-school co-operation and cross-sector collaboration, premised on the synergy of culture, policies and practices.

Early Identification, Early Intervention
Early identification and early intervention are the key strategies in catering for students with special educational needs (SEN). This chapter outlines how schools effectively leverage EDB’s information transfer mechanisms to promptly identify and understand students’ needs, formulate effective school-based support measures, with a view to facilitating their smooth transition through different learning stages and integration into school life.
"Whole School Approach"
EDB has all along encouraged schools to adopt the WSA to implement IE. This chapter focuses on how schools foster consensus among all teaching staff through professional training and cross-panel collaboration, thereby cultivating a student-centered and caring and inclusive school culture that supports the learning and development of students with SEN.
"Home-school Co-operation"
Home-school co-operation is a crucial element in effectively supporting students with SEN. This chapter shares how schools and parents can establish strong partnerships through regular communication and diverse activities, working together to set appropriate goals and support arrangements for students, thereby enhancing their self-confidence and improving the effectiveness of support.
"Cross-sector Collaboration"
EDB encourages schools to flexibly deploy additional resources and professional support to provide diverse and appropriate support for students with SEN. This chapter illustrates how schools leverage expertise from diverse professional backgrounds. Through close collaboration among educational psychologists, speech therapists, school social workers and teachers, a multi-disciplinary team approach is adopted to jointly assess students’ needs and formulate support plans, thereby working together to support students’ learning and development.
