Background
Hong Kong Red Cross Margaret Trench School is an Aided Special School, founded and sponsored by the Hong Kong Red Cross in 1973. Based on the Red Cross Principle of Humanity, the school cares for students with physical disability by providing them with holistic education.
The teaching staff will prepare tailor-made "Individualised Education Programme" for all students, and regularly review their learning progress through diversified systematic school-based assessments. Additional "non-Chinese speaking" (NCS) and information technology (IT) support will be provided to students in need.
The school nurses provide comprehensive nursing care to ensure that students can enjoy healthy and happy school life. The school’s social workers assist students in solving personal, family, interpersonal or academic problems, and are committed to strengthening the connection among students, families, school and the community. The physiotherapists help students to strengthen their cardiorespiratory function, physical fitness and gross motor functions. The occupational therapists help students to improve fine motor functions, pre-writing/writing skills, self-care skills and pre-vocational skills. Speech therapists help students to improve communication, social interaction, speech and language, swallowing and oromotor abilities.
The school also emphasises on the communication and cooperation with the family. It updates parents regularly on all aspects of students in school. The school will arrange home visits when necessary to check whether there is any need for supplementary equipment at home. It builds closer relationships when the students, families and teaching staff enjoy seasonal celebrations together.

Dreams vs Infinity
In MTS, teaching staff believe every student is unique and thus trying their best to facilitate them to develop their potential. The school offers regular exposure to the students with different interest and skill groups. They will be referred to relevant institutions for further training when available.
In order to provide students with best-fit and ongoing support, MTS has started up the ‘Navigation Program’ in which teachers and therapists all become ‘Navigators’. Navigators do not only provide tailor-made comprehensive and practical guidance to students, but also be with them on the way to pursue their dreams in life.
