Background

Po Leung Kuk Yu Lee Mo Fan Memorial School, formerly known as “Po Leung Kuk Children’s Training Center”, is located in the Eastern District of Hong Kong Island.  The school has both primary and secondary sections.  In line with the Po Leung Kuk’s  altruistic spirit of “protecting the poor and comforting the innocent”, the school provides a holistic education based on knowledge and living skills for students with moderate intellectual disability.  The school aims to develop students’ potential, to help them to becoming independent and contributing citizens of China and Hong Kong,  and to live by upholding the school motto of “Love, Respect, Diligence and Sincere”.

 

The school team includes teachers, therapists, social workers, nurses and educational psychologist.  Many of the students have multiple disabilities, such as autism spectrum disorders, hyperactivity, hearing impairment, visual impairment and other disability / illness.  The school staff team possesses extensive experience and confidence, working alongside parents to diligently cater to the individual needs and learning characteristics of each student!

The school’s vision is to bring hope to students with intellectual disability and their parents, helping them live a wonderful life!  The school embraces three core values as the main axis of school development:

    The school values the learning and developmental needs of each student, respecting their individual differences. It provides students with diverse activities, competitions, and exchanges to broaden their horizons and enrich their life experiences. Students are offered opportunities and space to unleash their potential. The school collaborates with the school-based curriculum to provide students with various forms of activities. It also explores unconventional and diverse training classes for students to participate in, such as percussion band, roller-skating, multimedia art, magic performance, dragon dance, and robotics, allowing students with different abilities and characteristics to explore and develop their personal interests.

  • Professionalism: Professional dedication, teamwork.

    The school is committed to enhancing the professional capacity of its team and fostering a spirit of collaboration among students, parents, and staff members. The school has received the "Honorary School for Caring Campus" award continuously over the years, highlighting the school's dedication to creating a caring environment. In addition, it was honored with the "Outstanding Award" in "the 4th High-five Student Engagement Award Scheme" in 2022, acknowledging the school's united and caring efforts.

  • Quality-oriented: Pursuit of excellence, continuous improvement.

    The school professional team is committed to enhance the professional energy.  The school has won the "Chief Executive’s Award for Teaching Excellence" in 2004, 2014 and 2022, as well as the "Outstanding Teacher" award in the 2022 Excellent Teacher Election (Education Management Category).  It has also received funding from the Quality Education Fund for implementing various projects.  The results were shared with the sector and parents to jointly help students’ growth, with an aim to provide the continuous, up-to-date and "quality-oriented" services.
