Support Measures

Schools can adopt a tiered support model to promote students’ mental health and support students with mental health needs:

For details, please refer to Guidelines on “How Schools can Help Students with Mental Health Problems” and Teacher's Resource Handbook on Understanding and Supporting Students with Mental Illness. You can also browse the “Mental Health@School” – Student Mental Health Information Website of the Education Bureau (EDB).

The Food and Health Bureau, in collaboration with the EDB, Hospital Authority (HA) and Social Welfare Department, has launched the “Student Mental Health Support Scheme” since the 2016/17 school year.  A multi-disciplinary team, comprising psychiatric nurse of HA, designated teacher and school social worker, is formed in each participating school.  The team works closely with the psychiatric team of HA, school-based educational psychologist, relevant teachers and social workers from respective social service units to provide support to students with mental health needs in the school setting.
