Issue no.1 - Shall Students with Intellectual Disability (ID) Enroll in Special Schools or Ordinary Schools?

Titled “Shall Students with Intellectual Disability (ID) Enroll in Special Schools or Ordinary Schools?”, the 1st issue of the SE Newsletter notes that the Government adopts a dual-track mode in implementing special education.  The Education Bureau will, subject to the assessment and recommendations of specialists and the consent of parents, refer students with more severe or multiple disabilities to aided special schools for intensive support services.  Other students with special educational needs may attend ordinary schools.  Parents shall have an objective look at the different aspects of the support provided by special schools and ordinary schools to students with ID, take into account various factors including specialists’ recommendations on the selection of schools, and make appropriate decisions for their children.
