Background
It is a special school located in Tsing Yi, covering around 5000 square meters. It serves P1-S6 students with severe intellectual disability and/or multiple disabilities, aiming at implementing equal education, respect life and care to the students. Students can explore their potentials and integrate into the community through the school’s support. The school has primary section and secondary section, as well as boarding section.
The school provides balance education which focuses on ‘Cognitive, Aesthetic, Social, Physical and Moral development’. Students can study in a pleasant learning environment with appropriate teaching and rehabilitation provided. Students can also improve their ability of self-care, social communication, muscle training and prepare well for their future after leaving the school.

In order to increase students’ self-esteem, confidence and independence, the school focuses on developing students’ interests and performance on self-care, sports and arts, which are the opportunities for their personal development in life planning education.
The school strengthens students’ ability of self-care and health through routine training. The school walking team and cycling team can strengthen student’s ability of using muscles and sports equipment. Students with potential or better abilities will run rather than walk during trainings.
For cycling training, students can practise skills of riding tricycles or bicycles with assisted wheels. The training does not only beneficial to their health but also increases the variety of leisure play they can choose in daily life. Teachers also make sure they have opportunities to select what they like as a part of their living style and thus enhancing their quality of life.
Swimming training also provides suitable sports experience for students of different abilities. In addition to the regular after-school water sports group, which allows students with weaker muscles to perform activities in the hydrotherapy room, students with good gross motor abilities go swimming in Tsing Yi Swimming Pool. By doing this, the school can make good use of community resources, and students can learn social norms and the way of getting along with others. In addition, in order to allow some potential students to have more training systematically, the school also adds swimming coaching and strengthens their training, so as to allow them to enjoy swimming.
