The school is actively developing the information technology in education and its application to the students with special educational needs.  For the past seven years, the school has been playing the roles of "IT in Education Centre of Excellence" and "Special Schools cum Resource Centers", to provide support for the ordinary schools, to share the resources of e-learning and to exchange with partner schools the teaching experiences and professional knowledge on catering for students with special educational needs.  The school’s contribution was praised and assured by the education sector.  From innovating digital teaching software "Starwish" series to implementing one-stop portal for learning and teaching platform, "RainbowStar", the school has been taking the diverse needs of the students as the primary objective.  As for the development of the learning and teaching resources platform, school-based learning materials of the major subjects are digitalised, to provide students with electronic learning resources that suit their needs, thus enhancing the learning and teaching effectiveness and facilitating the students’ learning.  In fact, the students’ diverse needs are fulfilled and their self-learning ability is nurtured through this platform.  Under the COVID-19 pandemic, the frequency of face-to-face lessons is reduced and students’ time to learn online at home is increased.  Luckily, the school’s pace of e-learning development has become mature, students have attained a sufficient level of ability on using information technology in learning, they can break through the barrier of time and space in the pandemic, to learn autonomously with regard to their progress and learning needs, whenever they like through the electronic learning platform.  Meanwhile, teachers and parents can access the students’ records, performance and statistic data on the platform, to assess their learning progress.

Based on the advantage of existing information technology development, the school will continuously promote and follow on e-learning, and proactively develop the assessment system.  Through collecting and accumulating the data of the performance of the student in different aspects, the school can present what students learned and achieved at different period.  To further develop the analysis of data for reinforcement of learning and teaching and enhancement of students’ performance, the school will set up a more systematic data base of students’ performance and fully utilize the data through the analysis function of the platform.  In this way, students’ learning experience and performance can be monitored comprehensively while the effectiveness of learning and teaching can be enhanced.  Besides, the school cares for the growth of the students and will proactively promote the Life Planning education through home-school collaboration and inter-disciplinary teams cooperation.  Learning objectives will be devised for every student at different learning stages with respect to their individual needs of growth and unique circumstances.  Respective online platform and data analysis will be established to let teaching staff master comprehensively the progress and effectiveness of their individualized education programme.
