Background

Hong Kong Red Cross John F. Kennedy Centre provides comprehensive education and rehabilitation services for physically handicapped children and children with multiple disabilities.  The school provides comprehensive and diversified courses in a "through-train" mode, including mainstream courses from Primary One to Secondary Six and other adaptive courses for students with special learning difficulties.  The New Senior Secondary Curriculum offers different Electives and diversified Other Learning Experiences.  Under the principle of "same curriculum framework", specific curriculum objectives are set and appropriate teaching materials are developed according to students' abilities.

Adhering to the spirit of the school motto of “Freedom and Service", the school provides holistic education in moral, intellectual, physical, social and aesthetic respects: adopting the " Conductive Education " model at the junior primary level; cultivating students’ spirit to overcome obstacles alongside with tapping and developing their potentials at the senior primary and junior secondary levels; and finally, preparing students for public examinations and full integration into society at the senior secondary level.  Through professional teamwork and cooperation, the school creates the most appropriate learning environment for students.

The core values of the “JFK Family” motivates the school’sour teaching staff to collaborate seamlessly together in promoting "Life Education" for our students.  Through the whole school participation model, cross-professional teamwork, the "Outcome-Based" educational goal and the belief that there is a place for each individual’, the schoolwe isare dedicated to orchestrating students’ life planning education.  What is more, through “Conductive Education (CE)”, students are trained to accept themselves, be self-fulfilled, develop their potential, and contribute to the society.  It is also through the implementation of CE that students are enhanced life-widely in their academic, career, and leisure lives, and encouraged to pursue their dreams in our big family.

In addition, the "Individualised Education Program cum Individualised Transition Planning" (IEP cum ITP) provides tailor-made plans catering for the specific needs of theour students from an early age, through the joint participation offrom cross-disciplinary professional teams and parents.  The plans enable students to be well-nurtured in the growing process, empower them to achieve expected learning results, prepare them for graduation, and equip them for life-long learning.  As the school motto says, "Freedom and Service".  There is never self-limitation.

In terms of cultivating students’ moral values, the schoolwe hasve adopted the collaborative model of the “Big League” to examine the developmental needs of students from multiple angles and to promote home-school cooperation.  While promoting the school beliefs, the school also provides an environment which nourishes the love for the family and the nation and allows students to grow positively.  The schoolWe hasve been awarded the "Outstanding Teaching Award" in the 3rd Outstanding Teaching Award for Moral Education (Secondary Session) – an assurance of the school’sour effort in the promotion of moral education.  Offering an excellent teaching, therapy and learning environment to students is also the school’sour commitment, projects such as STEAM, music therapy, game therapy, "JFK Cafe", life planning classes, off-campus internship, partnership programmes with the Education Bureau and universities, occupational skills assessments, etc., have successfully created an ideal "JFK Family" for our students.
