Highlights
Hong Chi Morninghill School, Tsui Lam, is committed to Life Planning Education. The school’s mission is "to provide a quality education so that every graduate is equipped to be employable". The school has adopted the Personal Outcome Assessment for Students (POAS) (Hong Chi Association, 2006). Class meetings are initiated so the life planning education and personal growth goals are set for each student and reviewed regularly at various school stages.
Life Planning Education is implemented in a "planning-implementation-evaluation" mode under a "three-tier support framework" (class, small group, individual training) make an effort to provide comprehensive support to each student. Through the "Common Platform", "Common Language" and "Common Standards", the coherent professional team (teachers and specialists) designs Individualised Learning Plans (ILP) in accordance with the needs of students. ILP include different learning objectives, such as behavioural and emotional management, social communication, self-esteem establishment and community adaption. The plans are implemented through Group Education Programme (GEP) in order to develop students’ potential and consolidate learning process. Individualised Education Programme (IEP) and professional support (speech therapists, occupational therapist, education psychologist, social workers and nurses) are also essential to support students’ personal growth. With the help of award scheme and parent collaboration, a healthy lifestyle is developed and good character is nurtured so as to enhance whole-person development.
The school emphasises independent living skills and vocational training. For senior secondary students, the school provides career assessment and vocational training, as well as a graduation support mechanism, which facilitates graduates’ transition to workplace smoothly.
The participation of parents is also important. They can monitor students' goals and progress easily on the Life Planning Education Platform. Parents are also encouraged to upload their children’s videos as home based evidence to share the learning outcomes. Self-learning resources are plentiful for parents and students so as to promote self-learning habit.
The school guides students systematically to explore, decide and prepare their own career path according to their abilities and interests. It is hoped that they can achieve a meaningful, self-reliant life and contribute to society after completion of schooling.
