Tips to combat the pandemic (Chinese version only)
The change in pattern of life and social interaction owing to COVID-19 may cause adjustment issue or uneasiness among students with ASD. For instance, due to their atypical sensory response, they may resist wearing a face mask or feel distressed for being repeatedly reminded by adults to wash hands.
We suggest that parents and teachers should make reference to the support strategies provided by us to help students improve their adaptive ability. School-based educational psychologists may be consulted on the design of individualised intervention materials in accordance with the personal characteristics and needs of the students with ASD, as appropriate.
