Special Educational Needs Coordinator
The EDB provides each public sector ordinary primary and secondary school with a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to support IE. Starting from the 2019/20 school year, the EDB has upgraded the SENCO post to a promotion rank in public sector primary and secondary schools with a comparatively large number of students with SEN. Other support measures
Other professional support measures that the EDB provides to students with SEN include:
- School-based Educational Psychology Service
- School-based Speech Therapy Service
- Hearing Aids Fitting
- Enhanced Support Service for students with Hearing Impairment
- Resource Support Programme for Visually Impaired Students
- School Partnership Scheme
- School-based advisory visits by specialists and inspectors of the EDB
Professional development activities
The EDB provides training, such as seminars, experience-sharing sessions and workshops for teachers every school year to share good practices and latest information on supporting students with SEN. For details, please refer to the Professional Development Calendar (Special Education).
